Garrett Smith is a dynamic finance and operations executive with a strong background in venture development, startup finance, and strategic analysis. As Vice President of Finance and Operations at the International Accelerator, he works directly with portfolio companies throughout their fundraising and growth processes; developing financial models, refining business strategies, and guiding founders through investor preparation and pitch development.

Garrett also plays a key role in the company’s due diligence operations, sourcing and evaluating prospective startups seeking to join the accelerator. In addition to his leadership at International Accelerator, he serves as an Analyst with IA Global Ventures, contributes to IA Media in an operational capacity, and supports AngelouEconomics in business development and outreach initiatives.

Garrett’s journey with the organization began during his undergraduate studies, when he interned at the International Accelerator for three consecutive summers – gaining early, hands-on experience in venture operations and startup development. He later returned to the company in a full-time leadership role.

Graduating magna cum laude from the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business, Garrett earned dual degrees in International Business and Finance, a minor in Spanish, and honors distinction from the South Carolina Honors College. His analytical rigor, cross-functional experience, and global perspective make him an integral part of the accelerator’s mission to help international founders succeed in the U.S. market.
