Tournaman Joins International Accelerator

Updated: Jan 23, 2023

The International Accelerator is proud to welcome Tournaman to the United States as the company launches US operations in Austin, Texas. Tournaman is a rapidly-growing competition platform that allows anyone worldwide to find, share, host, and participate in tournaments and educational competitions that fuel their passion and improve their skills.

Co-founder and CEO Almat Baiduisenov, a high-school teacher and a serial entrepreneur with a decade of educational experience from Kazakhstan, initially started Tournaman as a means of solving problems he encountered while taking his own students to competitions or when he organized tournaments for his school. “Each academic institution creates and hosts competitions internally,” says Almat, “and opportunities for students are scattered online. To find contests they have to rely on word of mouth or disparate online search engines.” Tournaman’s first to market solution, designed to bring together hosts, participants, and judges in a gamified experience to create an ongoing ecosystem of tournament hosting and participation. Organizers can monetize their events and promote their brand, judges can get compensated for their services and participants can register for global events in a simple, unified platform.

Another problem Tournaman aims to solve is the impermanence of data historically seen in academic competitions, “students may compete in many tournaments during their school years, and all of this information is lost once the events are over. I thought it would be wonderful if students could have a profile that compiled all of their achievements and rankings in one spot, with comparison to global competition in that field", Almat explains. Almat joins the IA program eager to spend his next 12 months in Austin, “The U.S. is the only country in the world that truly fosters innovation, and Austin is the perfect city to take Tournaman to the next level.”

Tournaman’s team includes Co-founder & COO Aldan Seisenbay, and CTO Kuanish Myrkalykov. More than 3,000 students have competed in Tournaman's competitions to date in categories ranging from math, to physics, robotics, and debate with collaborations from academic officials from more than 15 countries and 17 cities. Additional languages, as well as merchandising and blockchain integration, are also on the horizon.

"I’m very happy to welcome Almat to the International Accelerator family – it is hard to overstate just how excited we are about the Tournaman platform and to have an entrepreneur as capable as Almat joining the team. Although it is launching with a focus on educational tournaments, we see the future of the company as a true unicorn revolutionizing the tournament/competition space globally, and humanizing the collaborative experience therein," said Parke Benjamin, COO of the International Accelerator
